I am off with my cinema to the Festival of Thrift
I have always loved festivals since i first stumbled into Glastobury in 1993. They are life changing places and offer us all something.
This month I will be taking my Solar powered cinema up North to the UKs only national celebration of sustainable living, The Festival of Thrift takes place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September at Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar. The festival has proved to be a great place to find the fun in learning how to reuse, recycle and upcycle, saving money and benefiting the environment.
There will be 120 fabulous stalls with an inspiring range of upcycled, recycled and secondhand items and innovative tasty home-made food and drink. Youll enjoy 1,200 things to see and do for all the family, showing you how to live a rich and creative life, with 300 workshops to take part in and demos offering thrifty advice, tips and tricks on how to save money.
And best of all, youll soak up the wonderfully celebratory festival atmosphere, featuring leading and emerging artists and an eclectic programme of events. Experience thought-provoking art from the likes of Quarantine, who invite festival goers to film their contribution to the encyclopaedic compilation Between Us We Know Everything; enjoy a flick in the Sol Cinema, a solar-powered cinema screening how to videos, clips and advice; take your broken stuff to the Fix-It Caf; immerse yourself in interactive entertainment, craft activities and great music including the bizarre sounding 21st century street band Boom Bike Bourree.
Best of all, its free!
