We Are With You A Tribute to all Protestants from Jadavpur University

If it was necessary to brutally, physically attack students of one of the most esteemed universities of India, then we might think of many more things necessary to eradicate the corrupt, insane and maniacal party that is currently residing in this so called system.I have always been maintaining a certain professionalism while writing political, but the limits - every limit has been crossed. And it cannot be accepted anymore. We,students, are disgusted and agitated. How dare the police act like that with the students? This is an universal insult to students. After this, the police will rush in the middle of History Class when school students are reading about Russian Revolution or daring to pronounce the name of any other communist or socialist parties.Or anything they do - perhaps singing inside the campus will be stated not allowed. No one has given any party the monopoly right to convert our prestigious institutions into prison cells. We are not prisoners,we are students. Moreover, forces cannot be allowed like that into a college without proper arrest warrant and the students cannot be carried off in police vans in the middle of the night with no trace of any documentation but harsh voices and boots and brutal attacks.

Is that the way you treat young women?Really? You have no right to physically assault any woman,no matter how big criminals they are.And I do not understand how you pick students up and physically assault them and then do not accept FIRs. What democracy are you talking about? This is not just about SFI. This is not just about Jadavpur University. This is happening everywhere.Today, can someone answer what justice we were able to bring for Sudipto Gupto? This terrorist governance murdered that boy and nothing happened.Simply nothing happened.Just someone lost his life. You are responsible for ending your reign. If you want to know what is going on in West Bengal (if anyone outside India is reading this),please go watch The Great Dictator and I would not have to explain it anymore.

Please Like The Facebook Hokkolorab (These are two Bengali words.Hok means Let it happen and Kolorab means Noise) Page to support us in this protest. The protest is gradually getting internationalised and we hope to gain support from every student with a proper moral base.

Thanks to all of you.Raising your voice is important. No matter how little part of the struggle it gets to be.Millions of droplets will make an ocean.Long Live Revolution!

How to Get Back Into Your Routine After a Break

At various times, we take breaks from the normal run of life. Sometimes, this is due to work itself (e.g. a conference) and sometimes its a vacation. Whatever the reason, theres always going to be a transition period where you need to get back into your regular working routine once you come home.

Instead of getting hugely stressed trying to catch up, heres a simple five-step process to getting back into your normal routine:

  1. Clear Urgent Tasks Before You Leave
When youve got a planned break like a vacation coming up, make an effort to prepare for it. Most of us do this naturally, but it can be too easy to stick our heads in the sand and hope that everything will magically come together!

One crucial thing to do is to clear anything urgent before you go away. Obviously youll take care of tasks which need to be done before you go – but look ahead a bit for deadlines that occur soon after your return. You dont want to be frantically trying to complete that big report on your first day back in the office.

Sometimes, of course, a break may be unplanned – due to illness or a family emergency, for instance. In that case, you may need to hand over or delegate any tasks with upcoming deadlines: dont assume that youll necessarily be back in the office as quickly as youre hoping.
  2. Plan a Couple of Catch-Up Days
We often think that we can go straight from vacation mode back into work mode – but its worth planning some transition time. Book an extra day off so that youve got time to get over your jetlag and catch up with your laundry. At work, dont schedule meetings for your first day or two back in the office – treat these as "catch-up" days: youll need to clear that email backlog!

If you work for yourself, this is just as crucial. You may even want to tell clients that youre away for a bit longer than you really are ... this gives you a chance to catch up on things without dealing with phone calls or sudden requests.
  3. Ease Yourself Back In
Have you ever come back from a conference or vacation and thrown yourself straight back into work, only to end up feeling exhausted? You may well have been busy – even if its not directly on work – during your vacation, and the switch back into your regular routine can take a toll.

Instead of trying to be superman or superwoman, how about easing yourself back into work or life gently? Tackle some simple tasks instead of something high-powered; where youve got control over your own schedule, try working a half day or two at first, in order to get back into "work mode". If your break was partly for stress-relief, theres no sense in coming straight back to the usual busyness!
  4. Make and Follow a To-Do List
I find that after a break, its hard to remember exactly what I was working on or what needs to be done next. Rather than grabbing the first task which presents itself to your mind, sit down for ten – fifteen minutes and make a list of what needs to be done. This helps you prioritize, so that you dont end up trying to cram loads into your first days back at your desk.

A to-do list is also a good way to battle overwhelm: you wont be worrying that youve forgotten about something vital, and you can focus on just completing one task then moving on to the next.
  5. (Re)-Establish Good Habits
If youve had a long break, it can take time to get back into your usual good habits. Perhaps you find yourself chatting too much when you should be working, or your mind wanders constantly when youre trying to focus. Work on getting back into your good habits.

In some cases, you may want to use your return from a break as a chance to establish some good habits. Often, a vacation or other break from work can help us to come back into our "normal" life with a fresh perspective. Is there anything which needs to change? Perhaps you want to make a real effort to finish work on time each day, or maybe youve realized that if your inbox can survive untended for a week, you dont need to check emails at 8am every day.
How do you get back into your usual routine (or even a better routine!) after taking a break? What tips would you add?

INJURY DUE TO HEAT AND ELECTRICITY

The heat source may be dry or wet; where the heat is dry, the resultant injury is called a ‘burn’, whereas with moist heat from hot water, steam and other hot liquids it is known as ‘scalding’.

Burning

1 first degree – erythema and blistering (vesiculation);
2 second degree – burning of the whole thickness of the epidermis and exposure of the dermis;
3 third degree – destruction down to subdermal tissues
Where the burnt area exceeds 50 per cent, the prognosis is poor even in first-degree burns.

Clinical conditions due to high heat exposure

1.Heat cramp- miner’s cramp, fireman’s cramp due to rapid dehydration through loss of water and salt in the sweat, severe and painful paroxysmal cramp of muscles of leg, abdomen, arms.

2.Heat prostration- heat exhaustion, heat syncope, heat collapse.
  • Is a condition of collapse without increasing body temperature, which follows exposure to excessive heat.
  • Precipitated by muscular work and unsuitable clothing
  • Patient usually recovers if placed at rest but death may occur from heart failure.

3.Heat hyperpyrexia or stroke- characterized by rectal temperature more than 41 degree centigrade and neurological disturbance as psychosis occurs.
  • Term sunstroke used when direct exposure to sun is there.
  • High temperature, increased humidity, muscular activity and lack of acclimatization are the principle factors in initiation of stroke.
  • Failure of cutaneous blood flow and sweating, the factors which control the body temperature, lead to breakdown of heat regulating centre of hypothalamus.

Burns in a victim of a house fire.

Scalds:
  • Runs or dribbles of hot fluid will leave characteristic areas of scalding – these runs or dribbles will generally flow under the influence of gravity and this can provide a marker to the orientation of the victim at the time the fluid was moving.
  • Scalding is seen in industrial accidents where steam pipes or boilers burst and it is also seen in children who pull kettles and cooking pots down upon themselves.

The examination of bodies recovered from fires
  • The findings of soot in the airways and carbon monoxide in the blood indicate that the person was breathing after the fire began.

Post mortem findings

A.External:
  • Burnt fabrics
  • Smell of kerosene, petrol over fabrics
  • Postmortem hypostasis and rigor mortis can not be assessed
  • Face is swollen and distorted,
  • Tongue protruded and swollen and may be burnt
  • Froth at mouth and nostril due to pulmonary edema due to heat irritation of air passage and lungs
  • Pugilistic attitude (boxing, defense attitude)- characteristic of great heat exposure; the flexor muscles being bulkier than extensor contract more.
  • Heat rupture in severe burning or charring, skin contracts and heat ruptures occur
  • Flash burn due to sudden ignition or explosion of gases

B.Internal:

1.Heat hematoma- has the appearance of extra dural hemorrhage

  • Clot has honey comb appearance
  • Parieto-temporal region is the most common site of such hemorrhage

2.Thermal fracture of skull-
3.Laryngeal edema

Scalds of the buttocks and feet on a child who had been dipped into a bath of extremely hot water as a punishment.

Trachea showing soot and mucus following inhalation of fire fumes and smoke.

Skin splits in the victim of a house fire. These splits were initially thought to be incised wounds.

ELECTRICAL INJURY
  • Usually, the entry point is a hand that touches an electrical appliance or live conductor,
  • The exit is to earth (or ‘ground’), often via the other hand or the feet.
  • In either case, the current will cross the thorax, the most dangerous area for a shock because of the risks of cardiac arrest or respiratory paralysis.
  • When a live metal conductor is gripped by the hand, pain and muscle twitching will occur if the current reaches about 10 mA.
  • If the current in the arm exceeds about 30 mA, the muscles will go into spasm, which cannot be voluntarily released because the flexor muscles are stronger than the extensors; the result is for the hand to grip or to ‘hold on’.
  • This ‘hold on’ effect is very dangerous as it may allow the circuit to be maintained for long enough to cause cardiac arrhythmia, whereas the normal response would have been to let go so as to stop the pain.

  • If the current across the chest is 50 mA or more, even for only a few seconds, fatal ventricular fibrillation is likely to occur.
  • The victims of such an arrhythmia will be pale.
  • Even more rare are the instances in which the current has entered the head and caused primary brainstem paralysis, which has resulted in failure of respiration.

The electrical lesion
  • Where the skin is wet, there may be no signs at all, as the entrance and exit of the current may be spread over such a wide area that no focal lesion exists.
  • Usually, however, there is a discrete focal point of entry.
  • The focal electrical lesion is usually a blister, which occurs when the conductor is in firm contact with the skin and which usually collapses soon after infliction, forming a raised rim with a concave centre.

  • The skin is pale, often white, and an areola of pallor (due to local vasoconstriction) is a characteristic feature. The blister may vary from a few millimetres to several centimetres.
  • The skin often peels off the large blisters leaving a red base.
  • The other type of electrical mark is a ‘spark burn’, where there is an air gap between metal and skin.
  • Here, a central nodule of fused keratin, brown or yellow in colour, is surrounded by the typical areola of pale skin.

The electric mark (Joule burn):
  • It is specific and diagnostic of contact with electricity
  • It is found at the entry point.
  • These are round or oval, shallow craters, 1-3cm in diameter, and have a ridge of skin of about 1-3 mm height.
  • The crater floor is lined by pale flattened skin
  • When the contact is prolonged, there may be charring.
  • Produced by conversion of electricity into heat within the tissue.

Exit mark:

  • Variable feature, but have some of the features of entrance mark
  • May be more damage of tissue
  • Often seen as splits in the skin, continuous or interrupted
  • Ante mortem electric burns can not be distinguished from postmortem electric burns

Multiple minute electrical marks on the hand caused by contact with a faulty electrical drill.

Extensive electrical burns with scorching and blistering.

Electrical mark from a mains wire wrapped around the neck. There is marked hyperaemia and adjacent pallor, with evidence of blistering.

Hyperaemia from a defibrillator paddle, caused during
attempted resuscitation.

Woman gives birth to her 18th child and all their names begin with letter J

Santa Claus will be busy trying to supply presents for this family.

An American woman has given birth to her eighteenth child - and her husband says the couple want still more children.

The fact that they are only giving their children names beginning with the letter J has not slowed them up one bit.

Last night Michelle Duggar delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section at a hospital in Arkansas.

The baby, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces (3.26 kilograms) and was 20 inches (51 centimetres) long.

"The ultimate Christmas gift from God," said Jim Bob Duggar, the father of the 18 children. "Shes just absolutely beautiful, like her mom and her sisters."

The Duggars, who are evangelical Christians living in Bible-belt America, now have 10 sons and eight daughters.

Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle started having contractions Wednesday night.

She needed the Caesarean section, her third, because the baby was lying sideways.

Jim Bob said both baby and mother were doing well last night.

"We both would love to have more," he said.

The U.S. cable network TLC broadcasts a weekly show about the Duggars, called "Seventeen and Counting."

Chris Finnegan of TLC - which handles public relations for the Duggar family - said the shows name would be updated to account for the latest addition to the family.

He said TLC also will air a show Monday on the babys delivery.

Jim Bob Duggar is 43, a year older than his wife. Their oldest child, Joshua, is 20.

The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jordyn-Grace, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 1.

"Our whole family is excited about Jordyns addition to our family," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Shes just perfect in every way."

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in north-west Arkansas in a 7,000 sq ft home, and the children are all home-educated.

Mrs Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life.

She and husband Jim Bob – evangelical Christians - said in a recent interview they would keep having children as long as God wills it.

"The success in a family is first off a love for God, and secondly treating each other like you want to be treated," Mr Duggar said.

"Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."

Simply Sleep To Be Healthy Living Being

Simply Sleep, To Be Healthy Living Being Everyone feels good shape and full of energy when I wake up. For that, people look for ways to continue to function optimally at all times just like in the morning. Start off mans search for stimulant substances, ranging from coffee, cocaine, vitamin to various materials which are expected to give a sense of fresh and fit.

Unfortunately, until now have not found a substance that can provide the perfect fitness. All the while only giving freshness, without restoring the ability of the brain especially body fitness. However, due to the extent of becoming known stimulant, sleep health slowly began to be ignored and reached its peak when the discovery of the light bulb.

Human activities that depend on light and dark cycle beginning to shift. Without realizing it, sleep disorders also appear. The concept of health, which previously only the balance of nutrition and exercise also helped change with the emergence of health problems due to sleep disorders. Discomfort, slowness of thought and fall of the immune system becomes the main health complaints of sleep disorders.

But thats not all, modern medicine is now recognizing sleepiness as a risk of serious health and safety. Clear manifestation of dangerous drowsiness while driving. But safety is also endangered when motorists are not alert and sluggish when responding to emergency events. Both of these proved to be caused by sleep deprivation.

A variety of serious illnesses is now well recognized due to sleep disorders. Call it hypertension, diabetes, heart disease to stroke all affected even caused by sleep disorders. Insomnia and sleep disorders are not alone! Theres about 80 sleep disorders in the International Classification of Sleep Disorder. The most dangerous excessive sleepiness even though the duration of sleep is enough. This condition is known as hypersomnia.

Triumvirate of Health

Mr. William Dement sleeping medicine asking the Triumvirate of Health or the health of three main components, namely the balance of nutrition, exercise and healthy sleep. Attention to exercise and nutrition are less clear. One of the most common misconceptions is a sport in the evening. Because of busy, people with high health consciousness choosing to exercise at night, even though not in accordance with the human biological clock. As a result, hours of sleep is sacrificed. Not to mention the effect of adrenaline that increases as if the body, in turn, will complicate the process of sleep.

Instead of getting better, even the body vulnerable to infection, increased blood sugar levels, blood pressure rises and even weight creeping up. Yes, the lack of sleep actually interfere with the metabolism of up to someone so easy fat. As well as attention to health and child development. Useless if the parents only pay attention to nutrition and vitamins if you do not pay attention to sleep health. You know what? Her immune system work optimally only during sleep!

Healthy Sleep
Healthy sleep is not that complicated. Parameters are also easily assessed in everyday life. When we wake up in good shape and not sleepy during the day, meaning we had to sleep with the sound. Good sleep habits will ensure a comfortable sleep. Get used to sleep at a time when the same time. Thus you have to set the biological clock for the rest. Once used, sleep will come naturally at these hours.

In contrast, irregular sleep hours will disrupt your sleep patterns. Sleep without preparation would rob sleep. Ready for sleep is not just sleepy. Ready for sleep is drowsy and relaxed. Though many people who for the sake of productivity, would like to continue working until drowsiness unbearable. As a result, they feel tired without being able to close his eyes.

Half an hour or fifteen minutes before bed, remove all the work and activities that are too busy eyes and mind. Television is included. Then do a fun and relaxing activity. Just read or do skin care. After feeling quite relaxed and sleepy, then climbed into bed. If drowsiness continues to attack even though they had enough sleep, this requires more serious handling. Moreover, if found to snoring, hypertension or diabetes.

Sleep in a sleep laboratory examination should be performed, as indicated by the stopping breathing during sleep that is harmful to heart health and blood vessels. This condition can strike people who look as subdued look healthy. You can easily find examples on the internet how healthy people, even top athletes can suffer from heart disease caused by snoring.

Healthy lifestyle

Real concern every day to find young people actively nan productive but had to drag myself out of bed in the morning. The eyes are tired, weak concentration, a characteristic. Although at certain hours they looked fresh, but if you just pay attention to sleep hygiene, would be far more productive again. Also ones health status.

William Dement stated that it is easier to assess the health status of a persons sleep patterns are observed compared to the routine of diet or exercise regime. Chronic diseases are also now a growing number of sufferers in Indonesia. No other cause of an unhealthy lifestyle, especially due to neglect sleep. So, let us further consider the quality of sleep hygiene for a better Indonesia.
